his exquisite devotional candlestick will add just the right amount of ghostly ambiance and gothic style to any alter, mantelpiece or space where you conjure the dead.

Fashioned in bright white milk glass, this lovely piece showcases a 3-dimensional Jesus crucified on the cross. Above him are the letters I.N.R.I., which is a Latin abbreviation for Jesus NazarenusRex Judeorum. or Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews

Milk glass was widely adored by 19th century Victorians for its uncanny resemblance to porcelain -- something only the wealthiest members of society could afford. This piece is exceptionally wonderful because it has its original gold paint details.

This particular candlestick is an example of a pressed glass piece, which means the glass was heated and then pressed into a wooden mold to form its shape as opposed to being blown by hand. The use of this technique often leads to rough and chipped looking seams and edges.

Additional Details
Date: Early 1900s
Materials: Glass
Measurements: 11 1/4" x 4 3/4"
Markings: None
Condition: Very Good
Candlestick has rough seams down both sides and around the bottom edge, which is not uncommon in pressed glass pieces. It has a chip and black mark on the top edge of the candlestick holder as well as a small chip above one of his arms, which could have occurred during the demolding process. There are a few surface cracks on the sconce, but nothing that sacrifices the integrity of the piece.
